There are two things, but you can do only one.
1. First thing is what the people wanted you to do, your parents, your family, your relatives, your society, etc.
2. There is another element that is yourself. What you want to achieve? What are your goals and ambitions?
You can’t do them both. There are two things that people want and what you want?
To choose between the two, it is the hardest decision for a person to take. Here applies the 8020 principle.
What the 8020 Principle says is that only 20% of people do what they want & the other 80% of people do what others want them to do. That 20% of people are leaders & the other 80% of people are slaves who fulfill the dreams of their parents, relatives, society, except themselves. The 20% of people who choose to become themselves control 80% of the total wealth of the world, whereas the other 80% of people who don’t choose themselves live on the remaining 20%.
Here comes the problem. The wealth of the world should be equally distributed among the people of the world but it is not. As of March 2020, there were 2095 billionaires worldwide. And what is the world’s population? 7.8 billion as of 2020. If we do the math. That is around 0.00002685% total population. That the wealthiest persons of the world are not even 1% of the total population of the world, but they are controlling 99% of the population in a sense.
Here you have to decide what side you want to choose. Do you want to become an upper hand or lower hand? Even our Prophet (SAW) and our Allah criticize the lower hand.
It is not befitting for a Muslim to be of low value to be oppressed to beg or something like that. Muslims were the rulers of the world. Muslims were the most educated persons in that time when there was no concept like education.
But if you choose to be in that 80%, who is gonna take you out from that. You have everything you need. You have to take action. You have to change yourself. As Almighty said in the Quran 13:11
Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.
